Pharmacy in public hospitals

(Satyajit Paul): Hospital Pharmacy is the healthcare service that comprises the art, practice, and profession of choosing, preparing, storing, compounding, and dispensing medicines and medical devices, advising healthcare professionals and patients on their safe, effective, and efficient use.

Every hospital in developed countries has a Hospital Pharmacy facility for ensuring apt healthcare. But it’s a matter of great regret that there is no such facility in Bangladeshi government hospitals, although Bangladesh has a great number of qualified ‘A Grade’ Pharmacists.

Hospital Pharmacy practice can extirpate misuse and irrational use of drugs and medicines. If appropriate healthcare is ensured at home, the citizens will not opt to go abroad for medical treatment, and consequently currency drain will be waned, and service sectors will be marked up.

My courteous request to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB), and other related Authorities to take necessary steps for establishing Hospital Pharmacy practice in every public hospital.
