Two fake homeopaths jailed in Chapainawabganj

A mobile court in a drive sentenced two fake homeopathic doctors to three months imprisonment each in Chapainawabganj on Thursday.

The convicts were identified as Md. Abdur Razzaq, 33, son of Md. Osman Gani of Naogaon village under Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district and Hafej Md. Ali Hasan, 28, son of Moulana Md. Nazrul Islam of Baliadanga village under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila. Sources said Abdur Razzaq and Ali Hasan had long been giving treatment to people at ‘Ali Homeo O Ayurvedic Chikista Kendra’ in Baroghoria Bazar under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila impersonating registered homeopathic doctors.

According to RAB sources, an operation team of RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp along with the civil surgeon of Chapainawabganj Dr. Enamul Hoque, and executive magistrate Md. Mizanur Rahman conducted a raid at the Ayurvedic Chikista Kendra the day before yesterday and wanted to see their homeopathy certificates.

As the duo could not show any papers in support of their homeopathy degrees, the court handed down the verdict giving them a jail term.

However, mobile court sources said the two were given jail terms under the ‘Medical Practice and Non-Government Clinic and Laboratory Control Act 1982. (Source: Amar Health)
