EWU Organized seminar on “Traditional Medicines – Development and Globalization”

ewu-seminar-Traditional-MedicinesThe Department of Pharmacy of East West University (EWU) Organized a seminar entitled “Traditional Medicines – Development and Globalization” on 05 November 2015 delivered. A keynote lecture has been delivered by Prof. Dr. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, School of Natural Product Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Prof. Mukherjee has been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry [FRSC], UK. His research career has been outstanding, including globally acclaimed contributions to evaluation of the holistic medicine are useful bio-prospecting tools for the traditional medicine-based drug discovery program. He has to his credit more than 170 publications in peer-reviewed impact journals, several patents, and 20 books/book chapters on various aspects of herbal medicine.

All the faculty members and the students of the Department of Pharmacy participated in this seminar.

Soon after its inception, the Department of Pharmacy became one of the best institutions not only in East West University, it gained its reputation throughout the country.

At present, there are at least 800 students, 16 full-time faculties, and 3 adjunct professors. The faculties are highly qualified, young, energetic, and efficient, and mostly graduated from well-reputed universities including the University of Dhaka. Most of our teachers have Ph.D. degrees and many publications published in different national and international journals. An American Scientist and Scholar named Edward Organ has been working as Associate Professor in our department.

The B.Pharm is a 4-year program consisting of 8 semesters and the students require to complete 158 credits. We are producing skilled and efficient manpower to serve pharmaceutical companies, retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, community pharmacies, and other government bodies related to health and research.

The facilities for lab and research works in our department are worth mentioning. We have very rare, costly, and useful instruments and apparatus in our labs. A modern research lab containing very costly instruments for advanced research is now under construction. We expect within a short time the lab will be ready for use.
