Father of Pharmacy education in Bangladesh Prof. Emeritus Dr. Abdul Jabbar died

The Emeritus Professor of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the University of Dhaka Dr. Abdul Jabbar died today morning at the Apollo Hospital undergoing treatment in the capital (Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajeun). He had been suffering from senile diseases. He was 95 years old. He left behind his only daughter along with students, relatives and so many appreciative. His funeral was done today after Maghrib prayers at the Dhaka University Central Mosque was buried at Banani graveyard.

DU Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique expressed deep shock at Professor Emeritus Dr. Abdul Jabbar’s death. Today Saturday, January 30, 2016, he said, under the leadership of Professor Abdul Jabbar Pharmacy education began in 1964 in the University of Dhaka as well as in the country. The country lost a dedicated teacher, researcher, and pharmacist in his death.

Prof. Jabbar’s unique contribution to the Pharmacy education, research & development, and pharmaceutical industry development of Bangladesh, will be forever remembered. VC prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to his grief-stricken family members.

The Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology of the University of Dhaka Dr. Abul Kalam Lutful Kabir said, “The Pharmacy Professionals of Bangladesh lost a bright star. In losing him, the pharmacists of this country have lost their parents.
